Law firm seeks a Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant with 3 years of civil litigation experience (mid- to large-sized law firms preferred) to provide paralegal and secretarial assistance in the litigation practice. Candidate will prepare and format complex legal documents in Word 2010; maintain relevant case management databases and files; provide copies of legal documents to relevant parties; file and electronically file (eFile) with State & Federal courts; assist with pre-trial and trial preparation; coordinate with Lead Paralegal in managing and maintaining litigation calendar for deadlines to ensure important dates are recorded; schedule appointments and meetings for attorneys; proofread prepared legal documents to ensure accuracy; and handle additional projects as requested. The hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with overtime availability needed.
Candidate must have an ABA approved paralegal certificate or executed attorney attestation and the ability to meet expected minimum client billable hours. The Legal Assistant will be functioning as a paralegal and secretary, so strong secretarial skills are very important. Must be proficient with MS Office Suite 2010; Adobe Acrobat Pro; use of LASC website to navigate courtroom information, case summary, and case management; OCSC eFiling requirements including USDC eFiling via CM/ECF and Pacer; knowledge of litigation process in State and Federal courts; and managing discovery. Candidate must work independently to meet deadlines under the supervision of the Lead Paralegal and attorneys.
