Legal Billing Coordinator

Law firm seeks a Legal Billing Coordinator with 3 years of experience to work in the San Francisco branch office. Candidate will generate, edit, and prepare monthly pre-bills, invoices, and appeals for submission to clients. The Billing Coordinator must have comprehensive knowledge of the electronic billing, including split and other complex billing arrangements. Responsibilities include working with clients, attorneys and staff to generate, distribute, edit, finalize, and submit legal bills; resolving billing-related issues; coordinating with the finance department to address questions related to the billing process; preparing and maintaining billing reports, reconciliations, schedules, and analyses. The Billing Coordinator will apply retainer funds and process write-offs; create new billing formats; and handle special projects. The hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is preferred. Must have experience with Aderant and multiple eBilling interfaces. Candidate should have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel functions. Billing Coordinator must understand engagement letters and complicated government contracts, and interpret client and matter-level rate structures. Experience designing alternate bill formats is needed. Candidate must have strong communication skills to interface effectively with management, attorneys, secretaries, and clients; and maintain an accurate work product while handling a high volume of bills.
