Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Law firm seeks a Payroll & Benefits Specialist for a 3 month temporary assignment. Specialist will provide payroll, benefits, and administrative support to the Accounting Manager. Responsibilities include auditing employee timesheets and data entry reports; reviewing and processing semi-monthly payroll; processing manual checks; updating and maintaining payroll, HR, and personnel files, spreadsheets and databases. Candidate will follow up with managers and employees regarding discrepancies on payroll, timesheets, or employee information; process garnishment requests and employment verifications; manage onboarding and employee payroll setup; and prepare and submit related payroll and benefit general ledger journal entries in support of month-end closing. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will also maintain PTO balances; assist with various special projects; manage benefits eligibility data (enrollment, deductions and process contributions for company health benefits and other related plans); and set up open enrollment and benefits changes in ADP in preparation for open enrollment.
Qualified candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills; ADP experience and college coursework is preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. The Payroll Specialist must be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task while maintaining a high quality work product.
