Job Description

Law firm seeks a Marketing Communications Manager with 5 years of experience with various media such as print, electronic and social media within a law firm, professional services, or PR agency environment.  Position will report to the Director of Marketing & Practice Development and supervise a Marketing Communications Specialist.  Candidate will interface directly with senior leadership, practice group leaders, and Partners to identify and develop compelling content in line with firm strategy and build profiles for practice areas, geographies, and individual Attorneys; generate ongoing and opportunistic PR and communications activity and thought leadership nationwide; draft and edit external communication, website announcements, and social media posts in relation to legal alerts, speaking engagements, authored articles, lateral hires, and awards; plan, develop and execute social media strategy, and oversee calendar for posting with marketing technology staff; serve as point of contact for media inquiries and liaise with outside PR firm to assist Attorneys in the placement of articles and expert commentary; prepare Attorneys for interviews or speaking engagements, and provide media coaching; manage submission preparation for awards entries and nominations, including coordinating ideas and reviewing entries for quality, and utilize accolades and rankings in marketing efforts; oversee drafting and review of ad content; provide communications guidance to internal administrative departments supporting recruiting and diversity; coordinate communications efforts across marketing functions to ensure consistent messaging; assist with media contact and crisis communication management; report on PR activity; and manage and support Marketing Communications Specialist, providing project-oversight and engaging in new opportunities to support professional development.

Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Position is remote within commuting distance to Southern CA or Northern CA offices.

Job Requirements

A bachelors degree is required. Background in journalism or writing is essential. Communications Manager must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have excellent proofreading abilities. Candidate will have effective managerial and communication skills to prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
