Job Description
Position:Â ControllerÂ
Location:Â Century City, CA (4 days onsite/week)Â
Pay: $180,000 to $200,000 annually (Exempt)Â
Experience: 7+ years’ experience to be responsible for supervision/team building of the Accounting staff and oversee accounting functions to maintain accurate financial and billing records/reports.Â
Education: Bachelor’s degree or comparable combination of education/experience required.Â
Type: Full-time; Direct Hire Â
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pmÂ
Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Controller to join our dynamic law firm client!  Â
Job Description:Â Â Â
- Train staff on firm’s accounting and billing systems as well as eBilling websites.Â
- Maintain/enhance appropriate internal controls across the department.Â
- Understand/operate SSRS, firm dashboards and profitability system reports.Â
- Work with CFO to evaluate and implement new/upgraded software.Â
- Monitor Billing and Collections and hold meetings and work with Collections Committee.Â
- Prepare annual 571-L reporting, oversee annual bar renewals, workers’ compensation audits.Â
- Plan workload for staff and manage team building of entire department, training, knowledge expansion.Â
- Journal entries and month and year-end close.Â
- Account and bank reconciliations; fixed asset tracking.Â
- Banking services including IOLTA client trust account oversight.Â
- Cash application and daily book-to-bank; Client reconciliation and closing estimates.Â
- Payroll processing and Accounts Payable and related compliance diligence.Â
- Month-end financial and banking reports, KFIs.Â
- Monthly budget overlay and quarterly/annual surveys.Â
- Retirement plan administration and work with outside actuary and administrators.Â
- Liaison with outside programmer regarding financial system issues and reports.Â
- Special projects and software implementation teams.Â
Position Requirements:Â Â Â
- Must be proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and have the ability to train accounting personnel in skill enhancement across software. Â
- Project management and software implementation experience required. Â
- Ability to lead a project team and to work on projects led by others. Â
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Â
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and specialty reporting. Â
- Excellent communication skills, time management, interpersonal/organizational skills with attention to detail. Â
- Ability to collaborate and cross-team with all administrative areas and promote a positive work environment. Â
- Knowledge of Aderant, ADP, SSRS, and financial dashboards preferred. Â
