Director of Administration

Large law firm seeks a Director of Administration with 7 years of experience to be responsible for non-attorney personnel, facilities, and office management. Selected candidate will oversee daily firm operations including screening, interviewing, supervision, training, discipline, and evaluation of support staff, fostering positive employee relations. The Director will also manage other Human Resources responsibilities, including unemployment hearings; employee handbooks and operation manuals, including new hire and onboarding process; benefits administration and selection, including open enrollment; time off and staffing levels management; personnel information maintenance and destruction management; and will conduct monthly staff meetings.
The Administrator will supervise Reception, Hospitality, Library, Office Services, Word Processing, Secretarial Services, and other non-legal staff. Candidate will be responsible for the overall facilities management and related functions, including space planning and renovations; emergency planning; and purchasing, including leases and supplies contract negotiations. Selected candidate will also coordinate staff social events, and participate in strategic planning and annual budget meetings. Other duties include overseeing the Summer Associate program and partnering with the Executive Team on lateral recruiting efforts.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field, or 10 years of relevant experience; a graduate degree is desired. Experience with Microsoft Office is needed, and ADP, CMS/Aderant, and conflicts and records software knowledge is preferred. Qualified candidate must have experience with ACA reporting, EEO-1 and all HR compliance filings; 401(k) administration and related annual compliance filings; third party benefit provider websites knowledge; and HSA accounts and COBRA/termination paperwork requirements. The Director of Administration must have proven ability to maintain discretion, promote firm culture and values, and display ethical behavior and decision making.
