Job Description
Position: Director of Human Resources
Location: Century City, CA (Onsite, travel as needed within California)
Pay: $190,000 to $225,000 annually
Experience: 10+ years of experience in a law firm and at least 8 years in managerial positions to oversee all aspects of HR practices and processes.
Education: Bachelor’s degree and SHRM certification is required.
Type: Full-time; Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 5:30pm (7.5-hour days)
Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Director of Human Resources to join our dynamic law firm client!
Job Description:
- Align HR strategies with the Firm’s overall strategy.
- Proactively ensure compliance with all relevant workplace federal, state, and local laws and regulations (OSHA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, ADEA, FMLA).
- Possess advanced knowledge of general HR practices, principles and federal/California regulations.
- Create systems and maintain personnel and employment data.
- Maintain the Handbook and ensure adherence to policies/procedures.
- Address employee questions, concerns, conflicts and grievances in a fair and compassionate manner.
- Conduct initial investigations of employee concerns, document findings, analyze situations and forward to Management.
- Manage non-attorney staffing, recruiting and onboarding; writing job descriptions, coordinating interviews, developing recruitment strategies, extending offers of employment, conducting pre-employment checks, managing orientations and integrations.
- Serve as a liaison between Human Resources and other departments.
- Develop and implement a performance management system to manage employee productivity.
- Develop programs to address performance gaps.
- Conduct Human Resources education trainings.
- Administer employee benefits programs, (health and retirement plans).
- Oversee employee relations to cultivate a positive, inclusive and engaged workplace culture.
Position Requirements:
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), iManage, and HR applicant tracking software required.
- Must have meticulous attention to detail with exceptional organizational and communication/interpersonal skills.
- Take a proactive approach, demonstrating initiative and accountability while fostering teamwork. Ability to time management, adept at swiftly and effectively multitask.
- Must have proven knowledge of law firm organizational structure with exemplary professionalism, diplomacy and tactful interactions.
- Demonstrated supervision and leadership skills.
