Position: Temporary Managing Clerk/Assistant Managing Clerk
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Pay: $40 to $55 per hour
Experience: 5+ years of experience for a six-month assignment to provide support to attorneys on litigation matters (managing docket clerk function and providing substantive procedural guidance to attorneys).
Education: Bachelor’s degree and paralegal experience are preferred.
Type: Full-time; Temporary
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:00am to 6:00pm (OT as required)
Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Temporary Managing Clerk/Assistant Managing Clerk to join our dynamic law firm client!
Job Description:
- Provide procedural guidance to attorneys and Assistant Managing Clerk with litigation procedures in compliance with State and Federal rules.
- Supervise Managing Clerk’s office staff functions, ensuring coordination of all State and Federal Court filings and critical dates on the NY Litigation Docket.
- Mentor reports to improve performance and maintain service levels; check for accuracy and approve timesheets.
- Maintain quality control of case calendar.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding document retrieval, transcript requests, filings and service.
- Process time and expenses regarding travel and Court expenditures.
- Work with litigation support in retaining vendors of document production and review; conduct quality control assessment of vendors.
- Assist with review of documents for responsiveness and privilege; draft privilege logs.
- Perform complex database searches to locate and retrieve selected documents.
- Record billable time spent and client-imposed billing protocols; enter and release time promptly; submit records of hours worked in compliance with established deadlines.
Position Requirements:
- Must have experience with complex commercial litigation and knowledge of databases (Pacer; LexisNexis; Westlaw; CompuLaw, ProLaw, CourtAlert; MA3000).
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage situations in a professional, calm, courteous manner.
- Possess outstanding time and task management skills with highly developed attention to detail.
- Knowledge of civil procedures, court procedures, and rules of all local courts (SDNY, EDNY, DNJ, Second Circuit Court of Appeals, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, Supreme Court of the United States, New York County Civil Court, New York County Supreme Court, Queens County Supreme Court, Kings County Supreme Court, Bronx County Supreme Court, Richmond County Supreme Court, Appellate Division First Department, Appellate Division Second Department, New York State Court of Appeals) is required.
