Job Description
Position: IP Patent Prosecution Assistant
Location: San Diego, CA (hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Pay: $80,000 to $100,000 annually (Depending on experience)
Experience: 3+ years experience of foreign or U.S. patent prosecution experience
Education: High school diploma (or GED) is required
Type: Full-time; Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm
Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking an IP Patent Prosecution Assistant to join our dynamic law firm client!
Job Description:
- Manage eDocket, maintain secondary docket; collaborate with the primary docketing department, client team, and USPTO
- Manage inbox/emails by acknowledging, distributing, and saving to the electronic document repository
- Create, organize, maintain, and retrieve physical and electronic client, research, and administrative files utilizing NetDocs
- Correspond with clients, attorneys, and staff to ensure instructions are received and deadlines are met
- Submit conflict checks and new client matter information through OPEN; prepare engagement letters and assist with client billing
- Draft and complete documents/paperwork supporting patent prosecution by accurately and promptly completing necessary forms, documentation, and other administrative tasks
- Provide document production services, including styling and formatting of documents; proofreading and checking for appropriate formatting, spelling, and grammatical errors
- Interact professionally and promptly with clients and internal parties by reporting filing information and responding to questions appropriately
- Respond appropriately to emails, telephone calls, letters, and visitors
- Use resources to resolve and answer routine questions
- Schedule appointments and make arrangements for conferences and travel
- Maintain attorney's calendar and contacts
- Invoice and expense report review and processing through Chrome River
- Create, organize, and maintain client files, follow up on pending matters
- Set up meetings as requested, ensuring all required materials are organized in advance and greet clients/guests
- Input attorney time in Intapp and record information
Position Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. patent procedural requirements and PCT practices
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Superior attention to detail
- Ability to handle tasks in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks with deadlines
- Ability to maintain a polite and professional manner
- Type a minimum of 65 wpm
