REIT in Maryland seeks a business-oriented Real Estate Attorney with 6 years of experience to act as In-House Counsel at the corporate headquarters, providing leasing and operational legal support across national portfolio with primary focus on East Coast properties. Position reports to the Senior Vice President of Legal Operations. Selected candidate will primarily review, draft, negotiate, and manage the process of retail and office leases, secondary lease related documents, and other supplemental documents from initial preparation through execution. Real Estate Attorney’s responsibilities include heavy interaction with internal company Leasing, Development, and Lease Administration departments, tenants, outside counsel, and brokers to oversee legal matters; preparation of, and response to default claims asserted by or against tenants; preparation of notices and letter amendments to the leases through resolution of matters/claims; and research relating to property operations and use restrictions and tenant and landlord rights; and interpretation of lease language. Legal Counsel will advise Property Operations, Lease Administration, and Leasing on landlord-tenant disputes; and direct property management issues in coordination with Property and Asset Managers as needed.
Position is hybrid, 3 days onsite.

Job Requirements
Selected Real Estate Attorney In-House Counsel must have a JD degree from an accredited law school and be a licensed bar member in good standing in any state. Selected candidate will have the ability to perform legal research and analysis on leases and other real estate matters; excellent writing skills; outstanding internal customer service skills; and intermediate MS Office features skills. This position requires stellar interpersonal relationships to foster collaboration with staff, vendors, and tenants.
