Information Compliance Manager

Los Angeles law firm seeks an Information Governance Compliance Manager with 6 years of experience for a newly created position. Selected candidate will ensure that firm information management policies and procedures are consistent with best practices and fully compliant firmwide, meeting all applicable legal, ethical, security and privacy requirements. Responsibilities include developing, implementing and maintaining policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines related to records and information management, information security, data privacy and other related issues. The Information Governance Compliance Manager will manage the workflow and training of 3 direct reports, and the team will educate staff firmwide on appropriate procedures, monitor/audit end-user processes, and keep up to date on new technologies and legal standards.
Information Manager will assist members of the litigation team on discovery requests and responses; assist with pre-litigation data management; develop a cost-effective, streamlined electronic discovery program; coordinate the destruction of data appropriately; prepare witnesses and custodians of records; and attend discovery conferences. This position requires moderate travel.
A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to at least one U.S. State Bar are required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, 4 years of litigation or related practice experience, and 3 years of supervisory experience are preferred. Selected candidate will have knowledge of the concepts, principles, management, and processing of electronically stored information (ESI) as they relate to legal matters, including the use of various ESI management and review tools and applications, and knowledge of security laws, including breach notification laws. Candidates with an electronic discovery or records management background, and knowledge of privacy laws, including the European Union privacy framework and other global privacy laws, are preferred.
The Information Governance Compliance Manager must have the ability to analyze information, think creatively, provide solutions, and communicate effectively to train personnel of all levels with varying technological abilities.
