Position: Litigation Assistant 

Location: Del Mar or San Diego, CA (Hybrid, 3 days onsite) 

Pay: $87,000 to $100,000/yr (Depending on experience) 

Experience: 3+ years of litigation and intellectual property support experience   

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred  

Type: Full-time; Direct Hire  

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am to 5:30pm

Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Litigation Assistant to join our dynamic law firm client! 

Job Description:   
  • Prepare and revise legal documents (pleadings, discovery, and motions) 
  • Proofread and check documents for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammatical errors 
  • File and serve documents in state and federal courts including eFiling 
  • Assist with all procedural aspects of patent prosecution including preparation of shells for filing applications, responses, IDSs, transmittal documents and all related forms promptly 
  • Research court rules for state and federal courts in which the attorneys practice 
  • Manage electronic eDocket and maintain secondary docket 
  • Collaborate with primary docketing department, client team and USPTO 
  • Manage inbox/emails by acknowledging, distributing, and saving to electronic document repository 
  • Create, organize, maintain, and retrieve physical and electronic client, research, and administrative files utilizing NetDocs 
  • Handle invoices and expense reports review and processing through Chrome River 
  • Correspond with clients, attorneys and staff to ensure instructions are received and deadlines are met 
  • Submit conflicts check(s) and new client matter information through OPEN 
  • Respond appropriately to emails, telephone calls, letters and/or visitors 
  • Schedule appointments and make arrangements for conferences and travel 
  • Maintain attorney's calendar, contacts, set up meetings, and organize materials in advance  
  • Prepare documents and packages for mail, messenger and overnight delivery 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Position Requirements:     
  • eFiling experience required 
  • Applicable knowledge of California Civil & Federal Procedure strongly desired 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) 
  • Keen attention to detail and able to think critically and analytically in a pressured environment 
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage deadlines 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with attorneys, clients, vendors, court personnel and other staff members
