Job Description
Position: Litigation Legal Secretary
Location: Century City, CA (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Pay: $70,000 to $90,000 annually
Experience: 3+ years experience to support 4-5 busy litigation attorneys in the Labor & Employment practice groups.
Education: Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Type: Full-time; Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm
Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Litigation Legal Secretary to join our dynamic law firm client!
Job Description:
- Create/edit drafts of documents such as correspondence, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, requests for production, subpoenas, deposition notices, and other legal documents.
- Prepare final versions of documents: format Microsoft Word documents, create tables of contents (TOC) and tables of authorities (TOA), and proofread.
- Handle electronic filings (eFiling) with state and federal courts; handle agency filings/submissions; and retrieval of eFiled documents with knowledge of court rules and filing procedures, including determining requirements for filing for in varying jurisdictions.
- Prepare court filings using Adobe PDF to assemble pleadings and exhibits, including bookmarking and OCRing.
- Assist in preparation for depositions, court hearings, and trials.
- Manage and organize attorney emails in Outlook and save in a document management system.
- Enter attorney time on a daily basis.
- Arrange meetings and travel, schedule appointments, and maintain contacts and calendars.
- Process expense reimbursements and prepare client bills.
- Communicate by phone/email with clients, court personnel and other legal professionals.
- Support other litigation assistants with filings, deposition preparation, and case management.
- Assist other departments with overflow work.
Position Requirements:
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat; and eFiling in state and federal courts.
- Must have a strong work ethic with ability to produce high-quality work in a consistent and reliable manner and the demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task to meet deadlines and ensure accuracy/quality of all work product.
- Experience in using technology to resolve work challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Proactive personality, positive and enthusiastic attitude, and a willingness to learn.
