Job Description
Position: Litigation Paralegal
Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Washington, DC (Hybrid, 1 to 3 days onsite)
Pay: $113,000 to $160,000 annually (non-exempt)
Experience: 10+ years of experience to support a wide range litigation matters in a law firm and perform billable duties associated with case organization, discovery, trial preparation and trial/arbitration; while providing guidance for case support professionals and organization support.
Education: High school diploma and paralegal certificate are required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Type: Full-time; Direct Hire
Schedule: Day Shift, 9:00am to 5:30pm (ability to work extended hours as needed, including nights and weekends)
Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic law firm client!
Job Description:
- Responsible to develop case organization protocols.
- Partner with case teams and other colleagues to address client needs.
- Provide onsite trial support including out of state.
- Conduct cite checks on federal and state documents, including substantive content review.
- Conduct calendaring/docket legal analysis including maintenance of an accurate and active secondary calendar for case teams.
- Conduct legal research on procedural requirements, tracking court decisions, and other related topics.
- Provide motion and deposition support to prepare shell documents, deposition notices, subpoenas, and declarations.
- Manage transcript databases, exhibits, interviews, and filings.
- Draft written discovery/objections, participate in collection processes, conduct document reviews, assist with document production, and produce privilege logs.
- Engage in fact development.
- Facilitate foreign language document translations.
- Provide key support on appellate filings and managing final document submissions.
- Manage staff teams and associate work product during trial.
- Assist in execution of training materials.
- Implement post-matter closing instructions, including compliance with litigation holds, document destruction policies, protective order compliance, and preparation of Bill of Costs for recoverable fees and costs.
Position Requirements:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, Westlaw, LexisNexis, Relativity, RingCentral, FileSite, iTimekeep (or related billing tools), and Case Notebook (or comparable software applications).
- Will have advanced organizational, research, and communication skills with ability to understand complex and substantive facts and themes to effectively direct trial team.
- Expert organizational skills that support work and case management.
- Ability to take and follow direction of letterhead attorneys and execute assigned work.
- Ability to interpret and understand complex case facts and themes in assigned work.
- Ability to be flexible and agile in work direction and assignments.
- Expert ability to draft common litigation forms and edit legal documents.
- Demonstrate good judgment, attention to detail, initiative, team player mentality and team building ability.
- Ability to exhibit initiative in seeking work and managing workload, consistently produce high quality work product, regularly check for errors and make corrections as necessary, and take ownership of projects and complete assignments in a timely fashion.
