Job Description
Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA (Remote, with required travel to Irvine and Los Angeles offices as requested for hearings or trial preparation)
Pay: $85,000 to $95,000 annually
Experience: 10+ years of experience to work closely with business and environmental litigation attorneys in managing all cases by monitoring the citations on the court websites, liaise with the court, update spreadsheets, draft pleadings, discovery/motion documents, and assist attorneys to prepare for pretrial hearings and trial.
Education: A paralegal certificate or attorney attestation is required.

Job Description:
- Manage cases, proactively monitor, anticipate attorney needs throughout case progression (inception to close).
- Knowledge of, ability to interpret, institute in practice various laws, statutes/regulations including civil procedure, rules of court, appellate procedure, discovery act and local rules.
- Perform eDiscovery using document review platforms including review for relevance, privilege, redacting, creating privilege logs with speed and efficiency.
- Research subject matter using IT and library resources including Westlaw, Hein Online, CEB and Rutter Guides, other commercial/online databases.
- Perform cite checking, sherardizing and proofreading briefs and other legal documents using style manuals and Bluebook.
- Assist with pleading and discovery processes including drafting documents, research for service of process, ensuring proper service is completed timely, drafting notices/subpoenas, preparing for deposition, propounding and responding to written discovery, preparing for expert discovery, drafting discovery motions, drafting witness/attorney declarations.
- Perform analytical tasks, which may include preparing witness interview memoranda, reviewing/summarizing documents such as deposition/court transcripts, preparing/maintaining privilege logs as needed.
- Assist with law and motion practice including drafting and assembling motion papers/exhibits, assisting with filings of pleadings/briefs, ensuring proper service.
- Organize/maintain case-related materials.
- Attend/assist during meetings, hearings, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, communicate with opposing counsel/court staff.
- Calculate/review docketing dates for each matter and ensure proper maintenance of required case calendars.
- Assist with trial preparation, including preparing trial subpoenas, on-call agreements, determining applicable jury instructions/jury research, participation in the voir dire process, creating trial notebooks, identifying and organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, coordinating witness schedules, drafting various pre-trial/trial pleadings, maintaining trial calendars, communicating effectively with opposing counsel/courtroom staff.
- Prepare/supervise vendor preparation of graphs/demonstrative exhibits.
- Attend trial, hearings, depositions, or mediations.
- Liaison with practice support teams including directing of data collections, productions, and other data driven projects.
- Prepare post-litigation documents including judgments, entry of judgments, memorandum of costs and attorney fees motions, abstracts of judgment and collecting on judgments.
- Familiar with appeals and writs is a plus.
- Assemble administrative records and appendices in various courts.
- Occasionally assist with managing workflow, assisting in training, and delegating responsibilities, as authorized/requested.
Position Requirements:
- Proficiency with MS (Outlook, Word, Excel) and commonly used trial preparation software required (Eclipse/IPro, Case Notebook, Westlaw preferred).
- Must have strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational, reasoning and research skills and excellent communication abilities.
- Must have flexibility, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a high level of accuracy and sensitivity to ethical and confidentiality requirements.
- Substantive expertise in one or more areas of the law (toxic tort, writs of mandate, title insurance and real estate) is a plus.
