Job Description
Position: Litigation Secretary
Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid, 3 Days onsite, fully onsite first 90 days)
Pay: $70,000 to $110,000 annually
Experience: 5+ years of substantive bankruptcy (chapter 7 & 11) experience to perform complex and specialized trial litigation secretarial and clerical support activities.
Education: High school diploma (or equivalent); college degree preferred.
Type: Full-time; Direct Hire
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 5:30pm (37.5 hour week, flexibility for OT)
Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Litigation Secretary to join our dynamic law firm client!
Job Description:
- Filing of Motions for Relief, Proofs of Claim and Notices related to creditor’s rights in Bankruptcy. Calendaring of matters via internal case management system and various software systems.
- Coordinate with team to meet timeline requirements.
- Complete assignments including drafting, revisions and finalization of correspondence, pleadings (including tables of authorities-TOA), court forms, memoranda, and redline comparisons.
- Conflicts checks, opening new client matters and obtaining conflicts waivers.
- Draft and serve discovery documents.
- Prepare/send correspondence and emails to clients and opposing parties.
- Assist attorneys with arranging and preparing for depositions.
- Assist with trial preparation and support.
- Calendar relevant dates.
- Process invoices, organize files, prepare expense reports.
- Arrange for travel, meetings/depositions (in office or out of office); and remote court appearances.
- State, civil, complex federal and appellate filings (manual and electronic) and service of pleadings.
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic attorney files in accordance with department policies, practices and procedures.
- Attend firm offered training sessions.
- Production, including creation of flash drives and pdf of same for transmittal to client, along with hard copies.
- Retrieval/assembly of exhibits and hearing binders.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines to work through complex document markups and instructions in a timely manner.
- Extensive knowledge of Federal and State court electronic filing systems, ADR and JAMS mediation processes including knowledge of various court rules on the state and federal levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Attention to detail a must.
- Minimum typing speed of 70 wpm.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe.
- Proficient in iTimekeep or similar time entry software.
- Advanced proficiency in NetDocs or similar programs.
