Job Description
Position: Litigation Secretary/Practice Assistant
Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid, 4 days onsite)
Pay: $50,000-$89,200/yr (Depending on experience)
Experience: 8+ years of experience providing administrative support to attorneys in a law firm setting
Type: Full-time; Temp to Hire
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm or 9am-5pm
Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Litigation Secretary/Practice Assistant to join our dynamic law firm client!
Job Description:
- Using word processing and document management software to prepare and process correspondence and memoranda as well as complex legal documents
- Proofreads documents, prepares revisions and redlines documents as directed
- Prepares documents for eFiling
- Reviews and routes incoming and outgoing mail and fax communications
- Maintains and updates the calendars for assigned attorneys, including meetings, appointments, due dates, and client-related activities
- Maintains paper and electronic files in compliance with internal policies
- Prepares time entries for assigned attorneys
- Prepares expense reimbursement and disbursement requests
- Receives and screens phone calls and takes messages as required
- Receives and directs clients and visitors
- Schedules meetings and coordinates travel arrangements
- Provide administrative support during complex client meetings
- Assist with training and mentoring new office staff
- Pilot new software and oversee workflow coordination in larger offices
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents and legal processes
- Accurate typing of at least 70 wpm
- Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office, document management, time entry, eFiling and database software
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal and strong proofreading abilities
- Understanding of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Superior organizational skills including filing, calendaring, and proofreading
- Time management skills and ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Regular predictable attendance with leadership qualities
