Position: Bankruptcy Paralegal

Location: Houston, TX (First 8 weeks fully onsite, then 2 days onsite/week)

Pay: $105,000 to $125,000 annually

Experience: 5+ years of experience with Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 to provide specialized legal support throughout the complex business reorganization process.

Education: A bachelor's degree is required.

Type: Full-time; Direct Hire

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm (35-hour work week; Must be flexible to work overtime as needed)

Kent Daniels & Associates is seeking a Bankruptcy Paralegal to join our dynamic law firm client!

Job Description:
  • Proofread and file in federal court (bankruptcy petitions, motions, pleadings, monthly operating reports, exhibits using CM/ECF).
  • Track critical deadlines (filings, objections, hearings).
  • Calendar hearing dates and objection deadlines.
  • Monitor and download docket entries in cases for attorneys' review.
  • Draft and file retention pleadings.
  • Review prebills for clients and draft monthly fee statements and interim fee applications to be filed with the bankruptcy court.
  • Draft and file notices of appearance, notices of hearings, and motions pro hac vice.
  • Communicate with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
  • Prepare exhibit/witness lists, obtain and mark exhibits, and file.
  • Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparations (preparing pleading notebooks, exhibits notebooks, and other documents).
  • Register attorneys prior to the hearings.
  • Proofread every document before filing to verify that it complies with the Local Rules and Complex Case Rules.

Position Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, particularly Chapter 11 procedures, Local Rules, and the Complex Case Rules. Expertise in eFiling systems (CM/ECF, PACER), and legal research platforms (Westlaw, Lexis).
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex cases and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents are required.
  • Looking for a team player to manage a high volume of documentation, strict deadlines, and communications with various stakeholders.
